Teen Action & Support Center
Drop-in afternoons built only for teens: project work, life skills, arts and culture outings, and community service.
Tap for detailsCloseTASC has served NWA teens ages 13–19 since 2005. The after-school block is project-based rather than a class — teens pick what they work on, with staff around. Sign-up is required before the first visit, and there are now two sites.
Good to know: TASC asks teens to register before dropping in, so call ahead rather than turning up cold.
Official page ↗Teen Action & Support Center
TASC’s teen volunteer crew — group service projects with other teens instead of chasing hours alone.
Tap for detailsCloseInService is TASC’s volunteering track. Teens serve as a group on community projects, which is an easier on-ramp than cold-calling organisations, and it produces documented service hours.
Good to know: Ask them to track hours in writing if she needs them for school.
Official page ↗Teen Action & Support Center
Small facilitated groups for teen girls — confidence, friendships and the ordinary hard stuff. TASC states there is no cost to teens.
Tap for detailsCloseGirl Circle is a facilitated peer group rather than therapy. TASC runs it alongside other support groups, and states plainly that there is no cost to teens.
Good to know: If she wants something quieter than a club but not counselling, this is the middle option.
Official page ↗Teen Action & Support Center
A podcast written, recorded and hosted by teens. Free, and the episodes are genuinely theirs rather than staff-scripted.
Tap for detailsCloseLoud Enough is TASC’s youth-created podcast. Teens choose topics, write and record. It is a real audio credit to point at later, and one of the few local outlets for teens who write.
Good to know: Worth pairing with the library writing clubs — same skills, different output.
Official page ↗Teen Action & Support Center
TASC’s summer programme — outings and experiences across the season rather than a week-long camp.
Tap for detailsCloseBucket List Summer runs through the summer break as a series of outings and experiences. Details and cost are published closer to the season, so spring is the time to ask.
Good to know: Ask in March or April; summer places at TASC go early.
Official page ↗Teen Action & Support Center
Professional counselling for teens on a sliding scale, at TASC’s New Hope Road office.
Tap for detailsCloseSeparate from the drop-in programmes, TASC runs free-to-low-cost mental health counselling on a sliding scale. It is a different building from the after-school site.
Good to know: Listed here for completeness — not something she has to use to join anything else at TASC.

The author of American Born Chinese — a National Book Award finalist and the first graphic novel ever shortlisted — in person, for free.
Tap for detailsCloseGene Luen Yang writes literary graphic novels and has written for both Superman and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Since there is no local anime or manga club, an afternoon with a working comics author is the closest thing to one — and it is free.
Good to know: Registration fills for author events; book rather than turning up.
Official page ↗NWA Comic Con
Two days of comics, anime, gaming and cosplay at the Rogers Convention Center — the closest thing locally to a proper con.
